Client background
Inspect360 set out to modernise building inspections by blending traditional expertise with artificial intelligence. The vision was a platform where inspectors could capture data on-site and instantly receive risk assessments. Designed with BTRs, councils and housing associations in mind — where tenant satisfaction is critical — the platform also needed to streamline dispute management, with AI handling much of the comparison work.
The challenge
No off-the-shelf solution combined mobile data capture, an AI risk engine and a central portal for regulators. Inspect360’s founders needed guidance on how such a system could be architected and delivered quickly.
Our approach
We started by researching building codes and inspection workflows, then explored AI models that could detect common defects. Together with the client we mapped a simple architecture: a mobile app for inspectors, an AI engine for risk scoring, and a portal for regulators. We provided a clear roadmap showing how each component would be developed and integrated over a 14-week timeline.
Implementation
Using agile sprints we rapidly prototyped the mobile app, allowing inspectors to capture photos and notes. The AI engine was trained on historical inspection data to identify high-risk conditions. We connected both to a web portal where regulators could review reports and track compliance. Regular walkthroughs ensured the client understood how AI was being applied without needing to read code, and transparent documentation recorded every milestone and decision.
Outcome and impact
The finished platform was delivered in just over three months. Inspectors reduced manual paperwork and could flag potential hazards instantly. Regulators gained a centralised dashboard for compliance and risk assessment. The AI component improved accuracy and consistency, and Inspect360’s leadership valued the clear guidance and the speed of execution.
